Magic Cafe

There are times when we visit places either planned or on impulse and magic happens.  I had arranged with big sister and Mel to have an early afternoon tea at Taylor's café in the Swan Valley.  I have been there before and wanted to share the quaintness and quirkiness of this café.   We arrived to the narrow street filled with a variety of cars.  I parked Ellie further down the road, she is still new and must be treated with much respect!  Noisy groups congregated around outdoor rustic tables and we chose to dine inside in the cool.   We procrastinate over our orders and Mel chooses fruit toast while big sister and I choose yummy, almost healthy cakes.  Of course I order coffee which comes in a quaint yesterday-style cup and saucer.  It adds to the character and rustic appeal.  We choose table 10 and a young man asks if we want to be in a photo shoot for an upcoming magazine article.  We are taken by surprise but we don't refuse.  Our table is positioned in front of a modern style art canvas displayed against the back wall.  Taylors not only sell artwork, retro-style fabric but a variety of colourful dresses and cool shirts.  There are individually made tote bags, cushions and a variety of other fashion wares.
Michael Taylor opened the sustainable café not only to make great coffee but to give his Mum, Jude Taylor paintings and art work a larger audience.

The young man leaves a copy of his magazine, 'Menu', it is the 16th edition.  I had not heard of it before but I take the offered copy to read later.  It critiques local restaurants, breweries, cafes etc.  It's helpful to find new and interesting places to discover and explore.
The young man did not know our names and we did not ask for his.  He sat at a table in the corner aimed his camera and took a variety of photos.  We were aware of his presence and the clicking of his long lens camera but we were busy sharing stories of life. I was quite animated in my story telling and I wonder how the photo will look in the July edition.  We thanked the young man as he left with our photographic memories of our visit today.
